A parent contacted me about her son - she said that he is building up pressure which is causing his ears to hurt, and they seem to think that it is caused by his sax playing.
I'd like to provide them with as many solutions as possible for the problem. Any ideas?

I would suggest that he go to a doctor to have both his sinuses and ear canal checked. There might be some blockage causing the pressure to build up.
