Scott Turpen - University of Wyoming website The UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA SAXOPHONE PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP (June 21-26, 2009) is a unique and intensive six day musical experience, offering students(High School through University) the opportunity to experience the highest level of musical growth on the saxophone. Held on the beautiful campus of The University of Georgia in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, students will study the saxophone in all styles of music, classical through jazz. Each student will receive private instruction from the internationally acclaimed faculty. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to perform as a soloist, in quartets, and in a large saxophone orchestra, involving sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass saxophones. All students will gain performing experience on each of the saxophones. Workshop participants will end the week with a public performance held in the renowned Ramsey Concert Hall. All workshop activities will take place in The University of Georgia’s State-Of-The-Art Facilities in Athens, Georgia. EUGENE ROUSSEAU SAXOPHONE WORKSHOP The Shell Lake Arts Center announces the Eugene Rousseau Saxophone Workshop, to be held August 9 - 14 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin. The Workshop was initiated in 1972 in the beautiful Indianhead area of northwest Wisconsin, about 90 miles from Minneapolis. The event will begin on Sunday evening, August 9, with a recital presented by Rousseau and faculty members David Branter, Thomas Liley, Julia Nolan, and Anna Marie Wytko on Sunday evening. Class sessions begin the next morning, covering a wide variety of topics and offering individual and group performing opportunities. Solo performers are provided with a professional pianist and receive coaching privately and in front of the class. Student soloists, duets, trio, and quartets perform in a concert Thursday evening which concludes with a large saxophone ensemble.
