Quartet and Band

I am looking for suggestions for a work for sax quartet and band. Our quartet is traveling to Taiwan this January and was recently informed that we are going to be playing a concerto with a military band out there. I don’t know the playing level of the group, but I expect that it will be pretty decent, although maybe not comparable with those in the U.S. The work should be about 10 minutes long and easy enough for the quartet and ensemble to put together in one rehearsal. We have looked in the Londeix book, but many of those listed are unknown to us. Thanks, Josh

The "Capriccio for Saxophone Quartet and Band" by Warren Barker has a very manageable band accompaniment. It's challenging and has good writing, yet a small college can perform it without too much trouble.

Capriccio is a very good piece and fairly easy to put together in a short amount of time. THe only problem is its out of print so you will have to borrow it from someone who has it. My quartet performed it in june so you can listen to it and decide for yourself. website Best wishes, Cory Barnfield email
