Eugene Rousseau: With Casual Brilliance NASA is pleased to announce the second volume of the North American Saxophone Alliance Biographical Series. Eugene Rousseau: With Casual Brilliance, written by Thomas Liley, presents the life and pedagogy of the internationally famous performer and teacher. Thomas Liley, Director of Scholarly Publications for NASA, is co-author of The Cambridge Companion to the Saxophone and author of A Brief History of the World Saxophone Congress and numerous articles and reviews published around the world. The book’s first principal section covers Rousseau’s life, including his Fulbright study in Paris with the legendary Marcel Mule and his decades as a professor at Indiana University and the University of Minnesota. The second portion presents Rousseau’s approach to saxophone pedagogy, including aspects such as tone production, technique, high tones, and articulation. Extensive appendices document his career and numerous photographs and programs illuminate his historic recitals in the world’s musical capitals. The soft cover book is 231 pages in length and is generously illustrated. It offers insights to the global evolution of the saxophone through the groundbreaking career of one of the most influential wind players of the past fifty years. Price: $25.00
