Walter Hartley has suffered a mild stroke. He is alert, in great spirits, and resting comfortably at CMC Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC. When I visited him tonight, he was listening to music and was proud to tell me that the last time he was in the hospital was 1945! I was relieved to see how well he was doing. Please keep him in your thoughts.

How is Dr. Hartley doing? I heard about his stroke this summer. I am having my saxophone ensemble perform 2 of his pieces this semester and wanted to know how he was recovering. Can you give the saxophone community an update?
