I'm saddened to inform NASA that Kenneth Fischer passed away last evening, December 8. Dr. Fischer was our third President, serving from 1984 to 1986. He was Professor of Saxophone at the University of Georgia from 1979, where he established an extraordinary studio. His students, as persons and as musicians, are a testament to his success as a teacher.

I, as well, would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family, students, colleagues and our saxophone community on the loss of Dr. Kenneth Fischer. He has brought much joy and enrichment to the artistic lives of so many. Not only was he a wonderful mentor and musician, but someone whose love and dedication to the saxophone and his students has inspired us all. As a longtime friend and colleague, I will surely miss him. Joseph Lulloff Professor of Saxophone Michigan State University East Lansing, MI

I was also sad to hear of Ken Fischer's passing. He will be truly missed as not only a great saxophonist, teacher, but also as a friend. He was so supportive of everyone and a true gentleman. He will be remembered for his many contributions to the saxophone literature, his many successful students, his support of NASA and the WSC, his performance expertise, and as a beautiful person.
