Sax Concertino Commission- Consortium

Hello all, My name is Matthew Muneses, and I am a junior Sax performance major at Illinois State University. I have been in talks with a composer friend of mine, who is very interested in writing works for the sax. The composer's name is Jonathan Favero, he has recently graduated, and also recently completed a work for large wind ensemble, which at its readings, received all positive reactions. He doesn't have a website or anything yet, although if you want a recording of his wind ensemble work, I can contact him and send anyone interested a copy.I want to commission a Saxophone Concertino from him, for Sax and chamber ensemble. The work will be around 15-18 min. long, and will be a more contemporary/jazz influenced type of composition. I, being a paying full-time college student, obviously don't have enough funds to pay a full commission price, and am looking to form a consortium mainly comprised of fellow students, like myself, and possibly even, those student's teachers. I am still in the process of working out some details, but I would like to see if there's anyone interested in investing on a new piece of music. The consortium membership fee is looking to be about $100-150 per person. I hope to get at least ten members, if not many more. Once I start seeing interest, we can all collaborate and start working out a contract, as well as methods of payment. I hope that many of you out there will be willing to help breathe some life into what is sure to be a very rewarding experience for all involved, and bring a new piece of music into the saxophone repertoire! Sincerely, Matthew Muneses

Matthew - I am extremely interested in this project. Like yourself, I am a full-time student at Baylor University. The $100-150 is a good range for a project such as this one. Please keep me informed of any upcoming details regarding this project. Thanks and best, Marcos Duran email

Ok, everyone, Change of plan: after much thought on the matter, I have decided to cut a little bit from this commission. Instead of a Concertino for Sax and Chamber Orchestra, I have decided to commission a solo saxophone piece, due to the greater ease of programming, and ability to perform it more frequently. The piece will be 8-12 minutes in length. Hopefully there are still people out there interested in joining my consortium and bringing life to this new piece of music! Matthew Muneses
