Hello all, I'm doing a recital in March and am wondering if anyone could recommend a piece for sax, clarinet and piano. Thanks. Jeremy Koch Saxophone Washington, D.C.

William Price has a piece called Hook, Line and Sinker for this combination. The sax part includes soprano, alto, and bari sections, and the clarinet part includes Bb soprano and bass clarinet. It's about 14 minutes long and is a lot of fun! He teaches at University of Alabama-Birmingham, so I'm sure you could email him there. Brian

Leon Stein's Trio is worthwhile; it's similar to the Trio Concertante (alto, violin, piano) that Eugene Rousseau recorded with members of the Haydn Trio of Vienna. Harry Gee has arranged three of the op. 8 pieces of Max Bruch, originally for clarinet, viola, and piano; one could use that version or investigate doing one's own. Although I don't know the music, Londeix lists two works that might be historically interesting -- Hyacinthe Klose's Duettino concertante and La Somnambule, perhaps based on themes from the opera by Bellini. I've got a piece for clarinet, bari sax, and piano titled "neither from nor towards." I'll be happy to hook you up with the score and a recording if you like (and parts if you want to perform it). Cheers, EH

I also have an original piece for clarinet, sax and piano. We're rehearsing it right now, and it has come together fairly quickly. If you like, I can send you the score and MIDI file, and after this Tuesday, I can send you an actual recording. Let me know via email, email.

Harry Gee arranged three of the Bruch 8 Pieces (orig. for clar., vla, pno) for clarinet, alto, & piano. They're lovely pieces.
