Notice of Faculty Vacancy

POSITION                           Teacher of Saxophone

RANK AND SALARY          Assistant Professor; nine-month tenure-track appointment beginning Fall Semester, August 1, 2013. Salary and fringe benefits are competitive and commensurate with            rank and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS              Doctorate, or equivalent professional profile required. Demonstrated success in

                                          college-level teaching as well as a consistent well-rounded record of professional       experience and national visibility as a performer required.

RESPONSIBILITIES            Teach saxophone to undergraduate and graduate saxophone majors/minors in lessons and studio classes. Create and supervise coaching of student saxophone quartet(s) and assist with saxophone methods in the music education curriculum. Work closely with University band and orchestra directors concerning the placement and performance of saxophone students within the ensembles, and with the woodwind area concerning saxophone recitals, hearings and juries. Responsible for effective saxophone student recruitment and retention, creative/scholarly activity, and service contributions appropriate for a university faculty member.

GENERAL

SCHOOL OF MUSIC            The School of Music is part of the College of Arts & Sciences and has a long and successful history of quality and commitment to excellence. The school offers a broad and comprehensive professional music program at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of  Schools of Music. The school has 43 full-time faculty members and over 400 music majors.
