OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY -- Assistant Professor (tenure track) Music Theory, with expertise in Applied Saxophone preferred. Teach undergraduate courses in music theory and keyboard harmony, with possible additional assignment in teaching courses such as sight singing/aural skills. If qualified, teach applied saxophone to undergraduate and graduate students; engage in recruitment efforts in cooperation with wind area and Music Department; conduct studio classes; deliver courses in saxophone pedagogy and literature. Saxophonists should possess performance facility in both classical and jazz styles and be able to give instruction in both genres. In addition to instruction, all music faculty are expected to be productive as scholars/artists and to engage in departmental, university and professional service and outreach. Doctorate required in either music theory or applied saxophone. Evidence of/or potential for successful teaching in music theory required. Evidence of successful teaching in saxophone desired. Record of scholarly and/or performing achievement. Start Date: August 16, 2010. Saxophonists should also submit a live performance CD or DVD including repertoire from both classical and jazz genres.
