Dance: The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance
is accepting applications for a September 2009 faculty position in the
Department of Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation. Rank is open and
commensurate with experience and education. This full-time faculty member
will teach jazz saxophone performance to undergraduate and master's level
jazz majors and qualified saxophonists in other degree programs in the
School of Music, Theatre and Dance; recruit outstanding students; maintain
national and international reputation as a performer, teacher and composer,
and assume faculty service responsibilities. Other teaching duties may
include jazz improvisation, jazz theory, jazz composition and small
ensemble coaching. Requirements for this position are a thorough knowledge
of jazz repertoire, jazz history and improvisation pedagogy, a sustained
and distinguished record as an artist, teacher and composer, and a master's
degree or equivalent experience. To apply, send letter of application,
