NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY -- Assistant Professor of Saxophone. Tenure-eligible. 9-month appointment beginning August 2008. The NAU School of Music seeks a dynamic, creative, and dedicated teacher of classical saxophone to teach private saxophone lessons, weekly saxophone master classes, saxophone pedagogy and literature, and to perform recitals and in faculty chamber groups. Position requires active and ongoing recruitment of students. Additional responsibilities may include coaching chamber music or other duties in the candidate's field of expertise. Minimum Qualifications: Master�s degree in saxophone performance. Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate or other equivalent degree or professional experience. Extensive and varied performance background. Experience recruiting at the collegiate level. Demonstrated success in teaching at the collegiate level. Evidence of potential for continued scholarly or creative contributions to the profession. Background in jazz performance and teaching desirable. Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations. Rank: Asst. Professor.
