Graduate Assistantship in Saxophone Performance
The Central Michigan University School of Music is pleased to announce a Graduate Assistantship opening in Saxophone Performance for Fall 2011. The stipend for the
.75 assistantship will be at least $7,725 and the award will also include a tuition waiver of 18 semester credit hours and $175 toward health care expenses. Tuition credits may be used in Fall, Spring, and/or the following Summer. The GA workload will be 15 hours per week. Duties may include assisting in techniques classes, coaching chamber ensembles, teaching supplemental applied lessons, and providing administrative assistance. Assistantships are renewable for a second year.
Students wishing to apply for the Graduate Assistantship must:
1) Apply to the College of Graduate Studies and submit the application fee. Applications are available on-line at website under applications and forms.
2) Visit campus for an audition or send a CD or DVD if distance prohibits a visit. Auditions can be arranged with Linda Switalski at (989) 774-1950 or by email at email.
3) Send a letter stating the type of assistantship desired, duties for which you qualify, a resume, 3 letters of recommendation (no form required) that indicate promise for graduate study, and a writing sample (e.g. term paper from undergraduate studies) to:

Audition dates are November 19, 2010, January 29, February 19, and March 18 and 19, 2011. Priority is given to students who complete the application and audition process by February 19th.
