Hi All, I would like to get a copy of Rudy Wiedoeft: Secret of Staccato for Saxophone. I have searched the NYC public library and the CUNY system library, have had no success. I was wondering if anyone can help me find a copy of this book. Thanks. Best, Dean

If you can't find a published copy, I could copy my book for you at some point. Let me know. David Henderson

I don't know if this is a book or an article, but if it's out of print, perhaps you could get the Library of Congress Photoduplication Service to make a copy for you. Plus, you could be assured that your copy or copies is/are legal.

Here's the info that I got from them: Thank you for contacting the Library of Congress, Photoduplication Service. A $14.00, non-refundable research and processing fee is required to initiate an estimate of the total cost to copy the requested material. Once you submit this payment, your order will be assigned to a searcher, who will visit the custodial division, pull the material, examine it for suitability for copying, prepare an estimate, and then notify you of the total cost. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover. You can submit your credit card details along with your order via email or fax. All that is required at this time is the $14.00 research and processing fee. Our policy is to let you know that turnaround time for completion and delivery for regular service is 6-8 weeks, however, depending on the workload of the searcher, turnaround time could be more. Please note that the estimate is included in this time frame. If you are making payment with a credit card, please include the following information: 1. name and mailing address of customer 2. daytime telephone number 3. credit card number and expiration date 4. name and billing address of card holder If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. We hope that this information has been helpful. Thank you. Library of Congress Photoduplication Service 101 Independence Avenue, S.E. I read through the book once and found it not that helpful. He says that the best way to tongue is from the tip of the tongue onto the body of the reed about a centimeter from the tip. But as we all know, many great saxophonists today don't use that tonguing style and still have amazing articulation. He makes the book very appealing by starting off by saying he can articulate (single tongued) at quarter note equals 208. I think he even claims to be even faster than that later on. The exercises he includes could possibly be helpful, but in my opinion you'd be much better off playing scales. In essence, this book would be a nice resource to have, but I feel like it is a bit outdated. He claims that double tonguing is something Saxophonists should avoid as it is something that isn't even enough to be useful. But if you can find it, check it out! You shouldn't take my word for it.
