Hello all, I'll be giving a fun saxophone clinic at UCLA on Wednesday, May 7th from 12-2pm. It will be in Schoenberg Music Building room 1343, UCLA, Los Angeles, CA. The Tonal Palette of the Saxophone Family: A Clinic for Composers and Performers This clinic will present an overview of the amazing variety of tone colors that the saxophone family provides to composers, arrangers, and performers. Dr. Easton will give demonstrations of common and uncommon types of saxophones spanning the full range of the family from piccolo sax to subcontrabass. He will discuss effective use of both standard and extended techniques, comparison of classical and jazz approaches to the instrument, and the role of saxophones as solo and ensemble instruments. Demonstrations will be given of soprillo, sopranino, C soprano, curved soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, c-melody, tenor, baritone, bass, contrabass, and subcontrabass saxophones. If you or your students are interested, this event is free and open to the public. I will also be performing at 8pm the night before (Tuesday, May 6th) in an ensemble at the UCLA Graduate Composers' Recital, 8pm at Schoenberg Concert Hall, UCLA, Los Angeles, CA. (I will be playing soprano, alto, and contrabass saxophones.) All the best, Jay Easton, DMA website
