Auburn University College of Liberal Arts Department of Music Faculty Vacancy Saxophone/Jazz RANK/SALARY: Full-time Instructor with benefits. Salary commensurate with experience. Final appointment is contingent upon funding. Limited term appointment – two (2) years. DUTIES: Recruit and teach saxophone to music performance and music education majors. Additional assignments may include teaching jazz courses, directing jazz ensemble, wind methods, coaching chamber music, and teaching courses in other area(s) of expertise. QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree is required. Doctoral degree in music preferred. Prior teaching and performance experience at the college/university level desired. The successful candidate must demonstrate professional level artistry in both classical and jazz styles. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent communication skills required. APPOINTMENT DATE: August 16, 2010. GENERAL INFORMATION: Auburn University is a major comprehensive research institution with an enrollment of over 24,000 students. The Department of Music, with an enrollment of approximately 110 students, has fifteen tenure-track faculty and eleven instructors. Degrees offered include: the Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, and in conjunction with the College of Education, the Bachelor of Music Education, the Master of Music Education, and the Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education.
