Jazz in NASA

Dear NASA Members, At the Members' meeting concluding the biennial conference in SC one very important discussion item was the role of jazz in NASA, especially in the wake of the demise of IAJE. Several possibilities were discussed, including: - possible elimination of "paid" big name jazz artists at biennials - expansion of established NASA artists with jazz credentials playing on large ensemble concerts, such as with big band. - an increased number and visibility of master classes given by jazz artists at these conventions, which in turn would lead to more jazz performance by students. What do you think about these possibilities? Do you have ideas of other ways to stimulate jazz participation within NASA? Please share your thoughts! Steve
