Bio:

Tom Luer is the Professor of Saxophone at California Polytechnic University in Pomona, CA and is a D’Addario Woodwinds Performing Artist.  His album "Project Popular" was released in 2011 to critical acclaim.  Recent recording credits include John Beasley’s Grammy nominated albums “MONK’estra:Volume 1” and ““MONK’estra:Volume 2”, Dave Slonaker’s Grammy nominated “Intrada” and Grammy winning jazz vocalist Kurt Elling's "The Brill Building Project".   Music from Tom’s CD was featured in nationally broadcast promos by National Public Radio, and he can also be heard on the soundtrack of the film “Daddy’s Home”, a Paramount Pictures Production.

Tom’s television appearances include the NBC’s “The Voice”, “Sports Illustrated 50 Years of Beautiful” and the “X-Factor” on Fox, the American Music Awards, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the Ellen Degeneres Show.  Additional performance credits and tours include John Beasley’s “Monk’estra”, Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, Poncho Sanchez, Queen Latifah, Tom Wopat, and Engelbert Humperdinck.

Ensemble Bio: Project Popular is a Los Angeles based jazz band led by saxophonist, composer, arranger, and producer Tom Luer. Created in 2009, the ensemble performs jazz interpretations of pop and rock songs, as well as original compositions. A collective of some of the industry’s brightest musicians, a Project Popular show may include the music of Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, Alicia Keys, Gotye, Prince, and Radiohead, to name a few.null
