Described by noted American composer Libby Larsen as “fearless on stage,” saxophonist Stephen Page has garnered international prominence as one of the leading saxophonists of today’s younger generation. Page has appeared across four continents, including United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, Australia, and the United States.

Stephen has earned prizes in no fewer than ten International and national competitions, including the MTNA Solo and Chamber Competition, the NASA Solo and Quartet Competitions, the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, the YYPA, and the AUREC Saxophone Competition.

Dr. Page has released fourteen recordings as a soloist and chamber musician which can be heard on the Enharmonic, Teal Creek, Crystal Music, and AUR Labels. Stephen’s premier recording of John Mackey’s Soprano Saxophone Concerto and John Adams’ Saxophone Concerto will be released in 2019, on the NAXOS label. 

Stephen Page is Associate Professor at The University of Texas Butler School of Music.

Ensemble Bio:

Shawna Pennock has been described as “rich and powerful, yet lightly effervescent” (Classical Voice of North Carolina). She has won top prizes in competitions including 1st Prizes at the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition, ENKÖR Chamber Music Competition, Southern Division of Music Teachers National Association Chamber Competition, North Carolina MTNA Chamber Competition, University of Georgia Concerto Competition, and the North Carolina MTNA Young Artist Competition. She has performed across three continents in Panama, France, Hong Kong, Thailand, Russia, and the United States.

Dr. Pennock teaches saxophone at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. An advocate for contemporary music she has premiered over 20 works. She is the tenor saxophonist for the award winning Dasch Quartet whose debut CD "Necessary Edges" was described as "immaculate" and "exquisitely done and played" (Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain). Her former teachers include Connie Frigo, Taimur Sullivan, and Kenneth Tse.
