Bio:

Since 2004, Shawn O'Kelley has been teaching at Owasso Public Schools in Owasso, Oklahoma.   He teaches sixth grade flute and saxophone classes, eighth grade band, Owasso High School Symphonic Band I, Owasso Saxophone Ensemble, and assists with the Pride of Owasso marching band.  In 2018, he was recognized with an Exemplary Teacher Award from the Oklahoma Music Educators Association.  Under his direction, Owasso Saxophone Ensemble members have performed at North American Saxophone Alliance conventions from 2016-2019.  Mr. O’Kelley also enjoys teaching an active schedule of private saxophone lessons, and his students frequently earn positions in all region and all state bands.  His professional affiliations include Oklahoma Music Educators Association, where he has served as All State Chair, Phi Beta Mu, North American Saxophone Alliance, and faculty membership at the Great Plains Saxophone Workshop.  Mr. O'Kelley is a 2001 graduate of the University of Arkansas and a native of Farmington, Arkansas.

Ensemble Bio: The Owasso Saxophone Ensemble is made up of students from Owasso High School, Oklahoma, and membership is open to all saxophone students in grades 9-12.  Students participate in regular rehearsals and studio classes as part of the broader saxophone curriculum at Owasso.  The ensemble has performed at North American Saxophone Alliance Conventions in collaboration with the Oklahoma State University Saxophone Ensemble at Texas Tech University in 2016, and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 2018.  Additionally, the ensemble has performed at North American Saxophone Alliance Region IV Conventions in 2017 and 2019.  Artists who have performed in collaboration with Owasso Saxophone Ensemble members include Dr. Jeffrey Loeffert, Dr. Kimberly Goddard Loeffert, Dr. Jonathan Nichol, Dr. Geoffery Deibel, Dr. Christopher Creviston, Professor Joseph Lulloff, Professor Roy Allen, and Dr. Eric Troiano.  In 2019, the Owasso Saxophone Ensemble participated in the commision of 'From Star Stuff' by Kyle Landry.
