Katherine Weintraub is the current Visiting Assistant Professor of Saxophone here at FSU. She made her solo debut at the age of 15 performing Jacques Ibert’s Concertino da Camera with the Florida Orchestra. Dr. Weintraub champions the standard repertoire of the saxophone in addition to contemporary music and creative transcriptions of borrowed works.

Dr. Weintraub holds her B.M. and M.M. from the University of Michigan, and her D.M.A. from the Eastman School of Music. She has received first prize at the International William C. Byrd Young Artist Competition in 2013, and the International Saxophone Symposium and Competition in 2014. Dr. Weintraub has performed as a featured soloist with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, the Flint Symphony Orchestra, and the Florida State University Wind Orchestra.  Her primary teachers include Lisa Sloan, Donald Sinta, and Chien-Kwan Lin.  Dr. Weintraub is a Selmer-Conn Artist and performs exclusively on Selmer Paris saxophones.
