Leo
Saguiguit enjoys an active schedule teaching and performing, with engagements as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and abroad, including Cuba, France, United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and the Philippines. He collaborates with numerous ensembles and currently performs with the saxophone/percussion duo DRAX, the Athens (Greece) Saxophone Quartet, Missouri Saxophone Quartet, and the Odyssey Chamber Music Series of Columbia. He has been soloist with various orchestras and wind ensembles and has appeared in over a dozen CD recordings. As an orchestral saxophonist, Saguiguit has performed regularly with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Milwaukee Symphony, Grant Park Music Festival Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, Florida Orchestra, and Missouri Symphony. Saguiguit is currently Associate Professor of Music at the University of Missouri. He earned his music degrees from Emory University and Northwestern University, where he was a student of Stutz Wimmer and Frederick Hemke respectively. |
Ensemble Bio: |
The Mizzou Saxophone Ensemble consists of members of the saxophone studio at the University of Missouri and includes graduate and undergraduate music majors and non-majors from various disciplines. Under the direction of Leo Saguiguit, Associate Professor of Saxophone, the group has performed at the NASA Conferences at the University of Illinois and the University of Oklahoma, as well as numerous performances on campus and outreach programs in the Columbia community. |
