Bio:

Zach Shemon is Assistant Professor of Saxophone at the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance and on faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp and Interlochen Saxophone Summer Institute. He holds degrees from Indiana University and the University of Michigan, and studied at the Université Européenne de Saxophone in Gap, France and the Aspen Music Festival and School. His primary teachers are Donald Sinta and Otis Murphy. Since joining the PRISM quartet, the ensemble has recorded extensively and held residencies at Beijing’s Central Conservatory, Curtis Institute, Princeton University, Rice University, Tianjin Conservatory, UMKC Conservatory, and the University of Pennsylvania, among others. Shemon was awarded 1st prize at
the inaugural International Saxophone Symposium and Competition in Columbus,
GA. Shemon
Cambria;color:#222222"> is a Conn-Cambria;color:#222222">Selmer artist and performs on Selmer (Paris) saxophones. He is a D’Addario Woodwinds artist and performs Reserve Classic reeds, and aids in product research and design. 

Ensemble Bio:

The UMKC Saxophone Ensemble was established in 2013 and includes undergraduate and graduate students studying saxophone performance and/or music education at the Conservatory of Music and Dance. Demonstrating its commitment to developing new repertoire for the medium, the ensemble commissioned several new works and arrangements, which have received premieres at regional and national NASA conferences. The ensemble gave a featured performance that the 2015 Missouri Music Educators Association Conference. The saxophone studio at UMKC has maintained a tradition of excellence established over the past several decades and has alumni holding positions in top military bands and universities across North America. The UMKC Saxophone Ensemble is co-directed by Zach Shemon and Alastair Wright. Members: Anthony Deffenbaugh, John Kelly, Nicolas Lira, Paul Lorenz, Jared Marble, Patrick Olmos, Will Peak, Mike Prucha, Walt Puyear, Colleen Seyer, Kameron Sheffield, Chase Shumsky, and Alex Velasquez.
