Dr. Benjamin Sorrell is Lecturer in Saxophone and Chamber Music at California State University, Northridge, and is on faculty at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles, and HYPERIUMconservatory in Palos Verdes. He has performed and lectured at the Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival in South Korea, the Monday Evening Concert Series at the Colburn School, The Stone, University of Colorado at Boulder’s Pendulum New Music Series, Darmstadt International Summer Course for New Music, and the Impuls Ensemble Academy in Graz, Austria. He holds degrees from the University of Southern California and New England Conservatory, and has studied with some of the world’s preeminent saxophonists including Claude Delangle, Jean-Denis Michat, and Marcus Weiss. Currently residing in Los Angeles, he performs regularly as both a classical and studio musician, exploring repertoire ranging from the baroque to contemporary, and has commissioned or premiered more than 20 new works for the saxophone
