Bio:

Damian Cheek is the current Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith and is completing a Doctorate in Musical Arts at the University of Oklahoma. Damian has been recognized as a classical solo and chamber performer and received first place awards at the Naftzger Young Artist Competition (2018), North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition (2018), and Music Teacher's National Association Chamber Music Competition (2018). Damian has performed internationally as a founding member of the Elysian Quartet and has performed as a guest with the h2 Quartet. In 2018 the Elysian Quartet released their debut album, Red, under the Blue Griffin Recording label – featuring Damian’s arrangement of Marc Mellit’s marimba duet, Red. Aside from arrangements, Damian is a strong proponent of new music and has commissioned solo, quartet, mixed chamber, and electroacoustic works featuring the saxophone.
