Bio:

A native of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Tony Barrette holds his MM in saxophone performance from the University of North Texas and his BME from Northern Michigan University. Tony is an instrument repair technician based out of Denton, Tx and is active member of the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians.


As a saxophonist, Tony performs with the Melangé Saxophone Quartet. Tony has been featured with several concert bands, has given solo recitals in Michigan and Texas, and performed across northern Michigan and Wisconsin as a part of the Pine Mountain Music Festival's UPstarts! recital series. Tony has performed with ensembles such as the Dallas Winds, Lonestar Wind Orchestra, the Marquette Symphony Orchestra, and numerous other community music groups throughout Texas and the Midwest.

Ensemble Bio: Founded in 2013, the Melange Saxophone Quartet came to fruition through Kyle Stec, Ben Tate, Michael McConnell, and Jason Pockrus while all were attending the University of North Texas. The ensemble has evolved since it’s inception, with the addition of Alexander Richards in 2014, and Tony Barrette and Nick Allington in 2015.

Focusing on a beautifully blended saxophone sound as well as artistic mastery, MSQ has given performances and masterclasses around the United States including appearances at Baylor University, Texas Tech, Howard College, Midwestern State, and the University of North Texas.
