Bio: Jonathan Steltzer is a Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music education at Kennesaw State University (KSU) under the study of Sam Skelton and performs with the Atlanta Wind Symphony, KSU Wind and Jazz Ensemble 1, and the World Youth Wind Orchestra in Schladming, Austria. He is a winner of the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition, winner of the KSU Concerto Competition performing John Mackey’s Soprano Sax Concerto with wind ensemble, 2nd place in the virtuoso category for the Samuel Fordis Young Artist Concerto Competition, honorable mention at the International Woodwind Duo Symposium, finalist with the North American Saxophone Alliance Competition, Finalist for the Rome Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and featured as a soloist with the KSU Percussion Ensemble. Jonathan performed solo recitals at the American Single Reed Summit, North American Saxophone Alliance conference and at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research.
Ensemble Bio: Seniors at Kennesaw State University (KSU), clarinetist Matthew Hodgetts and saxophonist Jonathan Steltzer formed the Firetruck duo in 2017 to perform programs of new works including commissioning 7 pieces. The duo performed at the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, National Conference on Undergraduate Research and the American Single Reed Summit and are winners of the KSU Concerto Competition and an honorable mention at the 2017 International Duo Symposium. Clarinetist Matthew Hodgetts is an active clarinetist in the Atlanta Metro as a manager of the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and intern for Conn Selmer’s Youth Bands of Atlanta and studies with John Warren. Jonathan studies with Sam Skelton and has won top prizes including a winner of the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition, finalist and performer at North American Saxophone Alliance regional competition and conferences, and 2nd place at the Samuel Fordis Young Artist Competition.

Matthew Hodgetts



Matthew Hodgetts is the Manager of the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony. He is a Music Education major at Kennesaw State University, studying clarinet with John Warren. He is an active clarinetist, having performed with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Philharmonic, Ludwig Symphony Orchestra, “Pershing’s Own” United States Army Band, and Emory University Wind Ensemble.


In addition to performing, Hodgetts is a teaching intern for Conn Selmer’s Youth Bands of Atlanta. He won the Kennesaw State University Concerto Competition, and has been awarded Honorable Mention at the International Woodwind Duo Symposium at San Houston State University.
