Bio: Saxophonist Dan Phipps is a recent Master of Music graduate from the studio of Connie Frigo at the University of Georgia's Hugh Hodgson School of Music, where he also served as an aural skills graduate teaching assistant. Dan was awarded the first prize in the 2016 and 2018 MTNA Young Artist Woodwind Solo Competition in Massachusetts and Georgia, respectively, and was a winner of the UMass concerto competition, performing John Anthony Lennon’s Symphonic Rhapsody.  In 2016, Dan was the baritone saxophonist on the premiere recording of Frank Martin's Totentanz zu Basel im Jahre 1943 with the Massachusetts Winds. Dan has participated in festivals such as the American Saxophone Academy at the Eastman School of Music and the Vienna Summer Musica Festival in Austria. He received his B.M. in performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His past teachers include Jonathan Hulting-Cohen, Lynn Klock, and Dr. Felipe Salles.
