Bio:
Currently residing in NYC, saxophonist, Kristen McKeon, serves as D’Addario Woodwinds' Brand Manager. In this role, and in partnership with many of the world's finest saxophonists, Kristen led the successful development of Reserve Saxophone Reeds and the Select Jazz Mouthpiece line. She is also co-founder of the D’Addario Woodwinds Method Program--a tactile program that unites educators with the music industry.  

Recent recording projects feature Kristen on composer, Craig Sheppard’s, full-length album, On Foot: Brooklyn, and Michael Markowski’s self-titled debut album along with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony. Current collaborations have ranged from full multi-media performances commemorating Henry David Thoreau’s bicentennial to intimate salon performances intended to provide voice and cathartic relief to Catholic Church abuse victims.   

A seasoned speaker, Kristen travels globally to deliver insight on professional development and career building in the field of music, music products manufacturing, project management, and effective methods for collaboration with the larger music industry.
Ensemble Bio:
New Thread Quartet (ca. 2011) was formed with the mission to provide high level ensemble playing to today’s compositional voices. In 6 seasons, the quartet has commissioned and premiered over 20 new works by composers Richard Carrick, Ben Hjertmann, Scott Wollschleger, and Kathryn Salfelder, with recent commissions from Max Grafe and Taylor Brook. Based in NYC, NTQ has performed at Carnegie Hall, Roulette, Bang on a Can, Monadnock Music, and has performed or recorded more than 30 important works for saxophone quartet including Elliott Sharp’s seminal work Approaching the Arches of Corti for 4 soprano saxophones, now available on New World Records.

Ever-supportive of young composers creating new works for saxophones, NTQ has conducted masterclasses, residencies, and performances for student saxophonists and composers at Peabody Conservatory, Bronx Community College, Aaron Copland School (Queens College), Montclair State University, NYU and NASA. 2018 will bring residencies at UVA and Susquehanna University.
