Bio: Comprised of passionate performers, teachers and advocates for the arts, the members of the Obsidian Quartet are committed to providing engaging sonic experiences through a mix of diverse repertoire and audience interaction. Officially formed in 2013, the ensemble came together after working with one another for over a decade. Saxophonists Joyce Griggs (tenor), Henning Schröder (baritone), Heidi Radtke (alto) and J. Michael Holmes (soprano) share many musical commonalities, yet each maintain their own unique voice on the instrument. Like-minded in their direction, the Obsidian Quartet looks to foster new audiences for live performance and continue to ignite interest in the saxophone. Recent engagements have included performances at the 2015 World Saxophone Congress, featured performers at the Krannert Art Museum Chamber Music Series, and the 2014 North American Saxophone Alliance Conference.
