Bio:

Dr. Tracy Patterson is Associate Professor of Saxophone/Jazz and Woodwind Chair at Winthrop University where he teaches applied saxophone, jazz improvisation, and coaches chamber ensembles. Patterson received the Bachelor of Arts in Music from Northeastern State University, the Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Central Oklahoma, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Saxophone Performance from Texas Tech University. He has performed with noted artists Natalie Cole, The Temptations, Robin Eubanks, Bob Mintzer, Wayne Bergeron, Steve Lippia, Linda Eder, Lorna Luft, Brett Eldridge, and Darius Rucker. An active orchestral musician, he has appeared multiple times with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Patterson is a Performing Artist for Yamaha and D’Addario and exclusively performs on Yamaha Saxophones and D’Addario reeds. He resides in Tega Cay, South Carolina, with his wife, Joy, and daughter, Evelyn.

 
Ensemble Bio:

Dr. Tracy Patterson (Professor of Saxophone at Winthrop University) and Dr. Sesha Wallace (Professor of Saxophone at South Plains College) have been performing together in chamber ensembles since 2009. They formed Duo Amizade in the spring of 2010, and have performed on numerous recitals, the MTNA National Conference (2010), and the NASA Biennial Conference (2014 & 2016). The ensemble is dedicated to arranging and commissioning works for two saxophones. Working closely with composer, Dr. Leonard Mark Lewis (Winthrop University), they are excited to premier the second half of Lewis’ new work, Book of Duos for Alto Saxophones.

Bio:

Dr. Sesha Wallace, Assistant Professor of Music, joined the faculty of South Plains College in 2014 as the instructor of woodwinds. She earned the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Performance from Texas Tech University under the guidance of David Dees. She earned the Bachelor of Music from Stephen F. Austin University under the guidance of Brian Utley. Prior to her appointment at South Plains College, Dr. Wallace served as the Woodwind Specialist at Longview ISD and adjunct Instructor of Woodwinds at East Texas Baptist University. She is a Performing Artist for D’Addario Woodwinds.
