The members come from unique and decorated backgrounds, allowing the quartet to be informed by an accumulation of experiences and saxophone pedigrees. The group is comprised of Doctor of Musical Arts candidates Wilson Poffenberger (tenor) and Anne Kunkle (soprano), Artist Diploma student Michael Chapa (baritone), and Master of Music student Scott Augustine (alto). Most recently Khroma was awarded the Silver Medal at the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Competition in South Bend, IN and was an invited chamber ensemble at the 2018 Midwest Clinic in Chicago, IL.
Ensemble Bio:

The Khroma Soma saxophone octet is a brand new ensemble combining two awarding winning saxophone quartets. With a shared vision of artistry at the highest level, Khroma Soma seeks to reach a broader audience through diverse programming and audience engagement. Each group has garnered prizes at the 2019 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, 9th Plowman Chamber Music Competition and 2017 Chicago Woodwind Ensemble Competition. Including invited performances at the 2018 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, Inaugural American Single Reed Summit and the International Navy Band Saxophone Symposium.
