Bio:

Dr. Gregory Dewhirst serves as Professor of Music with Tarrant County College, and Adjunct Professor of Saxophone and Associate Director of the wind ensemble at Texas Wesleyan University. An active performer, Dr. Dewhirst performs as a soloist and guest artist, with the Northeast Orchestra in Hurst, the Meridian Chamber Players, Tarrant County College, Texas Wesleyan Wind Ensemble, the Greg Dewhirst Jazz Quartet, Wright Dewhirst Saxophone Duo, the GD Duo (flute and saxophone), and the SAGA Saxophone Quartet. His primary instructors have  included Dr. Eric Nestler, Eugene Rousseau, James Riggs, Wayne Dorothy, Matthew Patnode and Mark Watkins. He received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from North Dakota State University and his Master and Doctorate of Music from the University of North Texas respectively. 


Ensemble Bio: The GD Duo strives to support new compositions and support the woodwind duo genre. Drs. Meg Griffith and Gregory Dewhirst established the ensemble to commission new works for the genre, use as a pedagogical tool for composition and performance, and inspire new avenues for musical expression. In addition to their own individual performances, the GD Duo is an active participant of the Texas New Music Ensemble.

Bio:

Dr. Gregory Dewhirst serves as Professor of Music with Tarrant County College, and Adjunct Professor of Saxophone and Associate Director of the wind ensemble at Texas Wesleyan University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from North Dakota State University and a Masters and Doctorate of Music from the University of North Texas respectively. Dr. Dewhirst is also a founding member of the SAGA Saxophone Quartet, and actively performs throughout the North Texas Region as a classical soloist and jazz artist.




Meg Griffith

Bio:

The New York Concert review hailed Meg Griffith’s “facility with total control” and “calm serenity and impressionistic colors” in “her beautiful, singing tone.” Her passion for new music has led to multiple World Premieres, commissioning projects, and performances as a member of the Texas New Music Ensemble. She also performs regularly as a Trevor James Alto Flute Artist and on traverso. A founding member of Whole Musician, 501(c)3 which works with the body and mind to empower performers of all genres to realize their full artistic expression, Meg’s yoga certification informs her goal of simplifying and solidifying the physical and mental practices of artists. Meg serves on the faculty of Texas Wesleyan University.
