Matthew Koester is a Michigan based saxophonist praised for his "commitment to stellar sound and control" by La Tribune in Quebec. Recent engagements have included appearances with the New World Symphony and the premiere of an opera by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer William Bolcom. Additionally, he is featured on the Naxos label recording of Gershwin’s American in Paris critical edition. Koester has collaborated with the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings alongside members of the Detroit Symphony, and the Michigan Chamber Players with University of Michigan faculty members. As an active competitor, he has been awarded prizes at the Prix Orford Musique and the MTNA National Competition. In 2018, Koester was the first resident saxophonist at historically acclaimed Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA. Koester holds degrees from the University of New Mexico and the University of Michigan, and serves on faculty at Siena Heights University in Adrian, MI. |

Bio: Jordan Savage is a saxophone performance major at the University of Michigan studying with Dr. Timothy McAllister.
Brian Kachur
Alto Saxophone
Bio: Brian Kachur is a saxophonist from New Jersey currently studying with Dr. Timothy McAllister at the University of Michigan. He has performed at multiple saxophone workshops, mostly recently the Arosa Music Academy in Switzerland. Brian has also participated in masterclasses for Donald Sinta, Lars Mlekusch, Christian Wirth, as well as the internationally acclaimed Donald Sinta Quartet. Brian was also named the Alternate Winner for the 2017 Michigan MTNA Senior Woodwind Solo Competition. Brian is the baritone saxophonist of Cerulean Quartet, which was awarded Third Prize in the 2019 Briggs Chamber Music Competition at the University of Michigan. He also regularly performs with the U-M Symphony Band, as well as the U-M Saxophone Ensemble, which has performed alongside the PRISM Saxophone Quartet. Additionally, Brian is a member of the Invictus Duo, which focuses on performing contemporary works for saxophone duo, as well as promoting and commissioning works by young composers.
Andrew Hasher

Bio: Praised for his “liquid tone” and “smooth and expressive” playing (Classical Voice of North Carolina), Andrew Hasher has performed as a saxophonist and ensemble member across the east coast. Originally from Old Bethpage, New York, Andrew has competed and placed at statewide solo and chamber music competitions in New York, North Carolina and Michigan. As the winner of the Spring 2017 UNCSA Concerto Competition, Andrew has appeared as a soloist alongside the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Andrew has appeared as both a soloist and ensemble member of the University of Michigan Symphony Band. He is currently the alto saxophonist in the Sapphirus Quartet. Andrew holds a degree in saxophone performance (BM) from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Michigan where he studies saxophone with Dr. Timothy McAllister.

Philip Kleutgens

Bio: Hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada, saxophonist Philip Kleutgens attends the prestigious University of Michigan where he studies Saxophone Performance with Dr. Timothy McAllister. Philip has performed in many masterclasses and workshops including those at Indiana University, Eastman School of Music, and the University of Michigan. Philip is also an alumnus of the Interlochen Institute where he studied with the PRISM Saxophone Quartet. As a soloist, Philip has won the 2017 NMTA State Senior Woodwind Competition, the 2017 Las Vegas Philharmonic Cox Communication Concerto Competition, the 2017 NMEA All-State Woodwind Command Competition. An avid performer of new music, Philip is part of the Invictus Duo and the NorthSide Saxophone Quartet, where he serves as the soprano saxophonist.
