Bio: James Besaw is curently in his second year of his Master's degree program in saxophone performance studying with Dr. Jeffery Heisler at Oakland University. James completed his Bachelor of Music Education in 2017 at Saginaw Valley State University where he studied with Professor Susan Littell. In 2015, James was a Performance Fellow at the Nief-Norf Summer Music Festival at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. James has performed in many masterclasses with numerous distinguished musicians including James Umble, Zach Shemon, Taimur Sullivan and the Estrella Consort.  
Ensemble Bio: Purple Quartet is the premier saxophone quartet at Oakland University. Purple Quartet has performed in a masterclass with the world-renowned chamber ensemble, Imani Winds.

Brant Ford

Soprano Saxophone

Bio: Brant Ford is a 20 year old saxophonist from Henderson, Kentucky. He is currently in his third year studying music performance and technology with Dr. Jeffery Heisler at Oakland University. Brant has received many awards as a soloist; including First Prize in the 2018 American Single Reed Summit Saxophone Competition, a winner of the 2018 YoungArts National Competition, and winner of the 2017 Oakland Symphony Orchestra Concerto competition. Brant has performed in masterclasses with numerous world-renowned musicians including Nikita Zimin, Timothy McAllister, Otis Murphy and Lara St. John. Brant intends to continue his music education and pursue a Master's degree. 

Alex Sellers

Tenor Saxophone

Bio:

Alex Sellers is a music educator based in Rochester Hills, Michigan where he teaches adjunct at Oakland University. In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Oakland, he maintains a private studio of middle/high school students, regularly gives clinics at middle/high schools and works with a number of non-profit arts organizations in the Detroit area. Most recently, he performed Jake Heggie’s opera “Three Decembers” with Opera MODO in Detroit. Outside of teaching Mr. Sellers also works as a music engraver, having worked on a number of projects for the Assembly Saxophone Quartet, and was recently appointed the music copyist for Opera MODO. Mr. Sellers Holds a MM in saxophone performance from Oakland University where he studied with Dr. Jeffery Heisler, a MM in music technology and a BM in saxophone performance from Georgia Southern University where he studied with Dr. John Thompson and Dr. Carolyn Bryan respectively. 



Paige Grider

Bio:

Paige Grider is in her Senior year at Oakland University, studying music under Dr. Jeffery Heisler, with a minor in jazz. She works with many different schools in the Metro Detroit area and aspires to teach high school band. Paige has worked with multiple chamber groups, winning a “MaTilDa” award for top chamber ensemble as well as playing in masterclasses with Timothy McAllister, Taimur Sullivan and the H2 Quartet, as well as numerous performances at the Navy Band Saxophone Symposium.
