Bio:

Saxophonist and composer Phil Scarff (www.philscarff.com) performs Indian classical music and contemporary jazz, and leads the world-jazz groups Natraj and the Lewis Porter-Phil Scarff Group. Phil pioneers the performance of North Indian classical music on soprano saxophone, exquisitely capturing the subtlety and depth of this music. His performance at India's legendary Tansen Samaroh, Gwalior, India, with Saskia Rao de Haas was "The highlight of the festival." [Dainik Bhaskar]. Indian classical appearances also include India's Nehru Center (Mumbai); Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture (Kolkata); and ICCR Theater (Delhi). Phil has performed with Indian classical icons including Ronu Majumdar, Shashank, Kadri Gopalnath, Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman, Trichy Sankaran, and Chitravina Ravikiran. Phil performs jazz with Aardvark, Jazz Composers Alliance, OddSong, and Filmprov, and is featured on 40 CDs/DVDs.

Bio: Prafulla Athalye is one of the senior most disciples of tabla icon Allarakha, He is one of the leading tabla artists from India, and has performed with stalwarts of Indian classical music including Allarakha (tabla), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Amjad Ali Khan (sarod), Pt. Jasraj (vocal), Birju Maharaj (kathak dance), N. Rajam (violin), Shahid Parvez (sitar), Buddhadev Dasgupta (sarod), Ajay Pohankar (vocal), Nayan Ghosh (sitar), Brij Narayan (sarod), and Satish Vyas (santoor). Praffulla is known for clarity, crispy tonal quality, speed, and attractive presentation of traditional tabla compositions. He is an “A” Graded artist of All India Radio and a national winner of All India Inter University Competition, 1995. He is faculty at Phoenix Gharana School of Indian Arts, Scottsdale, Arizona.
