As a composer, Mr. Garrett Wingfield interests extend well beyond the world of jazz into mediums such as saxophone quartet, wind band, orchestra, and electronics. He has had pieces commissioned and performed at both regional and national North American Saxophone Alliance conferences. Recent compositions incorporate electronics with improvising instrumentalists in order to cultivate new ways of thinking about interaction and hierarchies.

Mr. Wingfield received a Bachelorís degree in music composition from Texas Christian University and is currently working toward a Masterís degree in jazz composition at the University of North Texas. At UNT he is a member of the world renowned One O' Clock Lab Band and conducts the Four Oí Clock Lab Band and is a teaching fellow in the jazz arranging department.  He studied composition with Blaise Ferrandino and currently studies with Richard DeRosa.
