Saxophonist Shawna Pennock has been described as “rich and powerful, yet lightly effervescent” by the Classical Voice of North Carolina. A native of Davenport, IA, Pennock is pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree with Dr. Connie Frigo. She has won 1st and 3rd place prizes in the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competitions in 2014 and 2012, respectively. Pennock also won the North Carolina MTNA Young Artist competition in 2014 and the Southern Division of MTNA Chamber Music competition in 2015.  Pennock is the tenor saxophonist of the Dasch Quartet whose debut CD, Necessary Edges released in January 2016. Pennock is a graduate of The University of Iowa (BM), and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (MM, PAC). Her previous teachers include Dr. Kenneth Tse and Mr. Taimur Sullivan.
