Bio: Jeffrey Heisler is Assistant Professor of Saxophone at Oakland University (Rochester, MI). Dr. Heisler’s accolades include 1st prize gold medal at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and a Downbeat Magazine Classical Soloist Award. He has given the American premieres of Luciano Berio’s Recit, Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Entführung and premiered new saxophone versions of works by luminary composers Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, Steve Reich, Chen Yi, David Lang, Marc Mellits, and Jennifer Higdon. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Contemporary Music from Bowling Green State University and has studied with John Sampen and John Nichol. Dr. Heisler is a Selmer Paris and Legere Performing Artist Clinician.
