Saxophonist, Ben Whittier, plays baritone saxophone with the Front Range Saxophone Quartet. Mr. Whittier is currently pursuing a Masterís of Music degree in music performance at the University of Northern Colorado, studying with Dr. Andrew Dahlke. He received his Bachelorís degree in saxophone performance from the University of the Pacific in May of 2014 where he studied with Prof. David Henderson. Ben enjoys playing a variety of repertoire for both solo and chamber ensembles, including works by composers John Cage, J. S. Bach, Russell Peck, and Jacob terVeldhuis. 

Highlights form Mr. Whittierís performing career include performing at the 2011, 2013, and 2015 North American Saxophone Alliance Region II conferences, being a featured artist at the North American Music Merchantís (NAMM) Generation Next Presentation in 2013, and recording a CD at Skywalker Ranch, home of Lucas Films with the University of the Pacific Wind Ensemble and the Pacific Saxophone Quartet.

Ensemble Bio:

A winner of the 2013 Rocky Mountain Concerto
Competition, the Front Range Saxophone Quartet is an enthusiastic and
versatile group based in Greeley, Colorado. The quartet enjoys playing
music ranging from Baroque transcriptions, modern classical compositions, jazz
tunes, and popular music arrangements. Since the group’s founding in 2013, the
quartet has been active touring high schools, competing in chamber music
competitions, and entertaining crowds at a variety of local venues across
Northern Colorado.

The Front Range Saxophone Quartet features Adam Blakey, Andrew Kropp, Mark
Pipes, and Benjamin Whittier. It is coached by Dr. Andrew Dahlke.
