The Parea Saxophone Quartet was formed in August of 2017 and consists of students from the Stephen F. Austin State University saxophone studio where they study with Dr. Nathan Nabb. The ensemble consists of Scott Augustine (soprano), Jack Thorpe (alto), Laurette Roddin (tenor), and Matthew Castner (baritone). Members of the quartet have performed international concert tours in Finland and Japan, have won the Texas MTNA Chamber Music Performance Competition, and have been semifinalists in the Coltman Chamber Music Competition and the NASA Saxophone Quartet Competition. Members of the Parea Quartet have performed in masterclasses for teachers such as Frederick L. Hemke, Jean-Marie Londeix, Debra Richtmeyer, Claude Delangle, Joseph Lulloff, Timothy McAllister, and Jean-Michel Goury.
