Bio:

Jackie Lamar is Professor of Music at the University of Central
Arkansas
where she teaches saxophone and conducts
jazz and saxophone ensembles.  She holds
the Doctorate of Musical Arts in Saxophone Performance and Master of Music Education
from the University
of North Texas
, and the
Bachelor of Music Education from the University
of Central Arkansas
.  Her principal teachers have been Debra
Richtmeyer, Jim Riggs, and Homer Brown. 
Dr. Lamar has performed in Spain, Canada, Slovenia, Iceland, Thailand,
Scotland, France and throughout the United States. Professional memberships
include the North American Saxophone Alliance, Phi Beta Mu, Arkansas School
Band and Orchestra Association, Arkansas Bandmasters Association, Arkansas Jazz
Educators and Music Teachers National Association.    An active soloist and chamber musician, she performs with the Cross Town Trio and the Arkansas Saxophone Quartet.

Ensemble Bio:

Cross Town Trio was formed in 2000 inspired by the theme of World Saxophone Congress XII held in Montreal, Canada. These three diverse instrumentalists are also noted academicians in the State of Arkansas. Dr. Karen Griebling, viola, and Dr John Krebs, piano, both teach at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas and Dr. Jackie Lamar, saxophone, teaches at the University of Central Arkansas also in Conway.   The trio is based in Conway, Arkansas, USA, known as the "City of Colleges" and is committed to promoting music for this unusual combination. The Cross Town Trio has performed internationally in Iceland, Slovenia, Thailand, Canada, and Scotland as well as across the United States.  The Cross Town Trio may be heard on “Music For The Cross Town Trio”, Centaur Records.
