Saxophonist Brent Weber has enjoyed a diverse musical journey as performer and educator. After earning degrees in saxophone performance from Southern Oregon University (BA) and University of Georgia (MM) Dr. Weber joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Saxophone at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in the capitol of China‚Äôs Sichuan province, Chengdu. After two incredible years teaching and freelancing in Southwest China, Dr. Weber returned to the U.S. to pursue his Doctorate in Musical Arts at the University of Georgia. From 2009-2012 he had the opportunity to study with teachers Kenneth Fischer, Eugene Rousseau, Joseph Wytko, and Connie Frigo. 

Dr. Weber is currently Department Chair and Assistant Professor of Saxophone in the Department of Music at Frostburg State University in Western Maryland where in addition to maintaining the saxophone and bassoon studios he also coordinates the jazz studies program.

Karen Lau


Bio: Karen Lau began her musical study with cello at the age of seven. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and Master of Music Degree from Catholic University of America. Karen is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Catholic University of America in Cello Performance where she plans to graduate in Spring 2017. Her primary teachers include Michael Mermagen, Sara Male and Shi-Dong Luo. Karen was invited to attend the Vivace Music Festival with full scholarship in 2006, 2007, and 2008. She held the rank of assistant professor at Sichuan Conservatory of Music from 2005-2009. Karen has performed at prestigious venues such as The Kennedy Center, NPR Studios, and the National Gallery of Art. In 2016 Karen founded the Frostburg State University Summer Music Academy.

Joseph Yungen


Bio: Pianist JOSEPH YUNGEN has had tremendous success as a soloist and performer of chamber music, art song, and new music. He enjoys an active life as a concert pianist and instructor throughout the United States and abroad, having performed and taught in China as guest artist on numerous occasions.

Joseph holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School, where he studied with Jonathan Feldman as a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow. He earned Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance & Literature and in Accompanying & Chamber Music from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Jean Barr and Douglas Humpherys. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance at Southern Oregon University under the instruction of Alexander Tutunov.
