Bio:

Saxophonist Ian Jeffress teaches at Western Carolina
University, and is the alto saxophonist of the Assembly Quartet and saxophonist with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra. He has performed as a soloist with ensembles including the Florence Symphony, the Motor City Symphony, the Cornell University Symphonic Band, and the Western Carolina Artist-in-Residence Orchestra, and has presented recitals and clinics throughout the US and in France and the UK, including performances at venues including the Bowling Green New Music Festival, the World Saxophone Congress, and the International Saxophone Symposium. Dedicated to the development of both pedagogy and performance, Jeffress is a co-founder and faculty member of the Carolina Saxophone Camp, and is a frequent commissioner of new works. Prior to his appointment at WCU, Jeffress served on the faculties of Allen University and the Palmetto Center for the Arts. His principal teachers have included Clifford Leaman and Steven Mauk.
